Submit an example of your desired character reacting to the following:
**A messenger has entered the room, out of breath and exhausted. He quickly tells you that an enemy army is quickly advancing on the borders of your country. Give an example of your character's thoughts and actions to this news.**

Legolas sat in the parlor, enjoying, as was his habit, a small breakfast and quiet time with Jewellyn before the hectic business of the day began. Despite their city's 'perfect' status, there were still a myriad of day to day issues that seemed to pop up and require either his or Jewellyn's attention which greatly hampered the amount of time he had to spend with his beautiful new wife.

"With any luck, the news trickling down from Rohan is merely rumor," he said gently, reaching out to pat his wife's hand reassuringly as they sat side by side in the sunny room. He saw no point in sharing his own unease about the rumors, as Jewellyn already seemed nervous enough with her own thoughts plaguing her day and night. Opening his mouth, he began to say something, anything, to give her a small bit of peace of mind, only to be interrupted as an unfamiliar messenger barged into the room, the door slamming against the wall behind him as he made his way into the parlor. Legolas was up and halfway across the room before the crack of the door had time to echo around the room. While the man's shortness of breath and haggard expression gave every appearance of a harmless scout, he would take no changes in his new home... and most particularly, with his new wife.

"What business have you here?" he demanded curtly, striding close to tower over the man with a commanding look within his blue eyes. "Who are you, and where you do hail from?"

The messenger gulped, the fear he felt at confronting the intimidating elf evident as he stuttered for a moment before finally finding his voice and speaking as commanded. "Forgive me, your majesty," he said, his voice still slightly shaky though it carried far enough to reach Jewllyn's ears as well. "I was sent by King Aragorn of Gondor, to warn you of the approaching army from the east. He knows not of the place where the army hails, only that several scouts spotted them 2 days back, heading this way with numbers reaching in the hundreds."

White blond hair flew behind him as Legolas whipped around to face his wife, his own unease at the news evident only if one looked deep within his eyes. Their city was safe, and pure... but only so long as evil was kept away from its gates. Aragorn had entrusted them with this task, and it was something he knew both he and Jewellyn took seriously.

"Gather the women, children," he told her, not letting the fear he felt at her own safety show, as much for her sake as his own. He'd been brave in battle before... but never before had anything mattered as much as his Jewellyn. "Lead them to safety. I'll get the men together, prepare as much as we can for what may happen."

Moving closer, he pulled her up from her chair, grasping her delicate hands within his. His thumb caressed the back of her knuckles as he gazed intently into her leaf-green eyes. "Be careful, be safe," he said quietly, leaning forward to press a gentle kiss to her forehead. "I'll do what I can to keep us and ours safe, and I'll join you in the gathering place as soon as possible."

With that he stepped back, his hands remaining clasped to hers as long as possible before he let go with a regretful sigh and turned towards the door. Catching sight of the waiting messenger, he gave a curt nod of thanks and moved towards the door. "Thank King Aragorn for me, and let him know the Seed is safe in our hands. No evil shall pass these gates as long as we have rule."

Pale hair trailed behind him as he hurried out of the room, and the castle, heading towards the huts that housed the men sworn to protect Caras Luna, and the purity she held within her.
